چکیده

Satellite radar altimetry has immense potential for monitoring fresh surface water resources and predicting the intra-seasonal, seasonal, inter-annual variability of inundated over large river basins. As part Preparation Surface Water Ocean Topography mission scheduled launch in mid-2022, present study aimed to evaluate performance inland bodies India. The Joint Altimetry Oceanography Network (Jason) with ARgos ALtiKa (SARAL/AltiKa) data were used derive levels 18 major reservoirs India by incorporating geophysical propagation corrections into range. In situ gauge altimetry-derived level time series from 2008 2019. results showed a strong correlation between Jason-2 determination coefficient (R2) root mean squared error (RMSE) ranging 0.96 0.99 0.28 m 1.62 m, respectively. Jason-3 had highest observation (R2 = 0.99) lowest 0.82), RMSE values 0.11 1.18 m. With an R2 range 0.93–0.99 0.20–1.05 SARAL/AltiKa presented greater accuracy than Jason mission. estimated can be utilized remote, inaccessible, or ungauged areas international transboundary rivers storage discharge estimations. However, remotely sensed depends on such factors as along-track distance, body area, geographical terrain conditions near bodies.

Inland Water Bodies Monitoring Using Satellite Altimetry over Indian Region

Satellite altimetry for inland water applications has evolved from investigation of water height retrieval to monitoring since last two decades. Altimetry derived reservoir/ river levels can subsequently be used to deal with key inland water resources problems such as flood, rating curve generation for remote locations, reservoir operations, and calibration of river/lake models. In this work 29...

A recently developed multiresolution estimation framework offers the possibility of highly efficient statistical analysis, interpolation, and smoothing of extremely large data sets in a multiscale fashion. This framework enjoys a number of advantages not shared by other statistically-based methods. In particular, the algorithms resulting from this framework have complexity that scales only line...

Assessment of the Impact of Reservoirs in the Upper Mekong River Using Satellite Radar Altimetry and Remote Sensing Imageries

Water level (WL) and water volume (WV) of surface-water bodies are among the most crucial variables used in water-resources assessment and management. They fluctuate as a result of climatic forcing, and they are considered as indicators of climatic impacts on water resources. Quantifying riverine WL and WV, however, usually requires the availability of timely and continuous in situ data, which ...

Satellite Altimetry for Hydrological Purpose Master Thesis GEOENGINE

As a new spatial measuring technic developed in 1970s,altimetry was designed to determine the sea surface height based on spatial technology, electronic technology and microwave technology. It also plays an important role in geodesy and oceanography; meanwhile, it can provide all-weather and repetitious measurements in global region for the studying of variation of SSH, earth gravity field, oce...

Dissolved methane in Indian freshwater reservoirs.

Emission of methane (CH4), a potent greenhouse gas, from tropical reservoirs is of interest because such reservoirs experience conducive conditions for CH4 production through anaerobic microbial activities. It has been suggested that Indian reservoirs have the potential to emit as much as 33.5 MT of CH4 per annum to the atmosphere. However, this estimate is based on assumptions rather than actu...
